Reflecting on 2010

2010 was an interesting year in the world of new condos, most notably when it comes to new Toronto condo developments, and those in the surrounding  GTA.  According to BILD (The Building Industry and Land Development Association), over 20,000 new condos were sold in 2010, an impressive 30% climb over 2009’s numbers.  A concrete reminder that fewer people are buying houses, and more people are headed into high-rises.   As astonishing as this number may be to some, even more astounding is the fact that high-rise sales accounted for 55% of all sales in 2010.  Anyone who’s passed through Markham or some parts of Mississauga lately will have had a firsthand look at the fact that a large component of the GTA new condo market exists in these 2 places.   With the strong prices of new Toronto condos for sale, it’s no big surprise that people are looking towards the suburbs for affordable condo life…
