Durham Region
To the east of Toronto lies the Durham Region, encompassing a vast area of approximately 1,000 square miles. Characterizing the region would be various landscapes and diverse communities. In the Durham Region, one can find a complementing mix of highly urbanized communities and quiet and small towns. Its municipalities include the city of Pickering, the town of Ajax and the township of Uxbridge, forming part of Toronto’s Census Metropolitan Area. It is home to General Motors’ largest plant in all of North America – located in Oshawa and also the headquarters of Volkswagen. It benefits from some of the lowest priced industrial and commercial lease rates and land costs by almost half of what is in the GTA.
