It’s a new year and with it comes new hopes and aspirations. 2020 was a rough year for so many, the pandemic brought a new way of living that many have never witnessed. One thing remained the same and that is the hope that we have for ourselves and loved ones. Parents still want the best for their kids and neighbors can still count on neighbors. We are all saddened by the situation in the long term care centres as our seniors deserve all the respect and comfort that can be offered. With consideration and gratitude we can hopefully come out of this stronger.
On the real estate front, Toronto and surrounding areas remained unbelievably resilient, with one exception. The condo market in downtown Toronto slowed as many sought the allure of outside of the city. Rents dropped as Airbnb units flooded the market and units that would typically be rented by students and downtown working professionals remained empty. If you are looking to buy, the condo market has many opportunities right now. End of the day Toronto is a world class sought after city, immigration is going to be strong again and many will return to the city for it’s endless amenities and culture. Don’t wait for all the deals to be gone to get in.
