York Region

York Region also known as the Regional Municipality of York is located in Southern Ontario, Canada. It covers a total area of over 680 sq. mi, stretching from Toronto to Lake Simcoe. It also includes vast hectares of protected Greenbelt. It is composed of nine municipalities which depict its region’s diversity.  These nine municipalities are the following: Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, and Whitchurch-Stouffville. Its seat of government is in Newmarket.

York Region is best known to be Ontario’s Rising Star as the municipality thrives to bring various services and resources to its residents. It is the one of the fastest growing regions in Canada.  York Region takes pride in the diversity brought about by its economic developments. It has booming businesses across several industries such as agriculture, retail, tourism, business and financial services, information technology, construction and automotive parts manufacturing. With this expansive economic coverage, the region promotes job growth and encourages redevelopment and business investment. This vast economic base, combined with the region’s well-educated labour force truly makes York Region Ontario’s Rising Star.

The most recent survey of the region shows a population of over a million residents and is expected to rise steadily, reaching over 1.5 million by 2031. Its current population is considered young compared to the population of the rest of Canada, where residents are between the ages of 37 and 56 years of age. They are also considered very well-educated with over 66% of adults over the age of 20, having post-secondary education. With this youthful and educated population, the region is supplied with skilled workers and ensures a good supply of labour work force for many years to come.
